Ulyanovsk (Russian: Улья́новская о́бласть, Ulyanovskaya oblast) is located in the Volga Federal District. Population: 1,382,811 (as of the 2002 Census).

The lift climbing a mountain on the Volga was manufactured in different parts of the former Soviet Union.  For example, the drive was produced in Leningrad, and the cabins  in Kazan. Structural works were carried out by  Samara Metallokonstruktsiya.
