The Morandi Bridge (Polcevera Viaduct) in Genova

The highway bridge spanning over the river Polcevera, linking Milano and Genova with the Riviera dei Fiori and France, was designed by Riccoardo Morandi and opened to traffic in 1967. The bridge is approximately 1200 meters long, divided into 11 spans of different length; the longest being 207 m. On 14 August 2018, a 210-metre section of the viaduct collapsed during a rainstorm on 14 August 2018. 43 people died

Furggen - A step too far.

A step too far for a ropeway project climbing the 3457m high Furggen on the border between Italy and Switzerland. Built but never completed as its ambitious plans proposed during the sanguine fifties. Operating until 1993, when a humid and cold night embraced the cable with heavy hoarfrost ripping it off, thus leaving the hardly reachable upper terminal nearly unchanged for now 13 years.

In 1939, world war II had just begun, avid italian engneers built a ropeway reaching a peak nearly 3500m high. Location: Cervina, the italian side of the Matterhorn. After the cable car was shut down at the end of the last century, time seemed halted. A fotographic documentation in 75 images about the intermediate terminal "Cime Bianche".
